The UWSN team was asked to testfy on Higher Education Promise Scholarships (SB 391) by Nevada State Senator Mo Denis. The team traveled to Carson City to make the case for SB 391.

The UWSN team met with staff from the Office of US Senator Dean Heller to discuss the Earned Income Tax Credit. After the meeting, Senator Heller decided to co-sponsor a bi-partisan bill to increase and make permanent funding for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

A team of 20 volunteers from Gerety and Associates spent the day at their office to assemble 200 reading kits for pre-K and Kindergarten students. The crew logged 40 hours, translating into $966 worth of community investment.

A team of 12 volunteers from Northern Trust spent the day at their offices to assemble 250 reading kits. The crew logged 36 hours, translating into $869 worth of community investment.
