Early Ed Advocacy!

The UWSN team attended a meeting of the Las Vegas City Council to support early education in the City of Las Vegas. At the meeting, the Las Vegas City Council passed a resolution to open the Strong Start Academy in Downtown Las Vegas.

Anti-Poverty Advocacy!

UWSN President Bob Morgan has been sharing the UWSN Community-Based Agenda with our local elected officials. Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick responded to the call for collaboration and will work with UWSN on to strengthen anti-poverty efforts in her district.

Campaign Advocacy!

The UWSN team met with Mayor John Lee of the City of North Las Vegas to discuss the importance of supporting efforts to reduce poverty, strengthen families, and improve educational outcomes. The City of Las Vegas continues to be a leader in supporting the annual UWSN campaign to fund anti-poverty programs across Clark County.

EITC Advocacy!

July 2017

The UWSN team heald a press conference with United States Representative Dina Titus to promote awareness of the Earned Income Tax Credit. The EITC is one of the most important and effective anti-poverty mechanisms in the US tax code.
